Dog Adopts Baby Opossums After They Mom Passed Away – Carry Them On Her Back

These newborn opossums were orphaned after their mom was killed by a dog in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

They were discovered by Stephanie Maldonado, a dog instructor, who attempted to rescue them, though it didn’t look good for the 4 baby opossums; they were so small that they hadn’t opened their eyes yet.

And that’s when Maldonado’s pup, Pretinha, came to the rescue. She started to take care of them, and quickly, the little creatures had gotten plenty of energy to climb onto Pretinha’s back. She actually gave them piggy-back rides!

It’s very nice to see all the care that she has with them, licking them all the time and nestling them,” Maldonado wrote on Facebook. When the joeys are older, she hopes to return them to the wild.
