Lonely dog abandoned in Walmart parking lot can’t stop hugging humans who rescued him

An abandoned golden retriever mix pup named Clarence took shelter in a Walmart parking lot in rural Georgia after his owners left him to fend for himself. There he met two other dogs – a German shepherd and a Chihuahua-mix who had been abandoned too. However, animal control captured Clarence and his German shepherd friend eventually.

Clarence’s owner was informed about him but sadly, they refused to come and get him. Thus, the little pup was placed on the euthanasia list and he would have died if wasn’t for Hounds In Pounds’ intervention. They reportedly stepped in just in time and rescued both Clarence and the German shepherd and began looking for a loving home to place them.

Despite the heartbreaks, Clarence was subjected to by humans, he never held any grudges against them. Instead, he’s a loving dog who goes by a golden rule, i.e. treating others the way you want them to treat you. The sweet 4-year-old pooch loves giving out hugs to everyone he meets and heartbreakingly keeps holding onto his caretakers in hopes that they won’t ever leave him.

Hounds In Pounds shared a post on their Facebook page in the hopes of finding the fluffy boy a forever home. “He is sweet, gentle and so grateful to be safe with us. We can’t help but get lost in Clarence’s golden coat, it reminds us of sunshine and so does his personality. He is bright, warm and brings light to those who know him,” it read.

They added how the adorable pup gets along with everyone he meets even cats, kids, and other pups. “He is an angel — literally,” shared Cat Suzuki, the Hounds In Pounds. “He just wants to be by your side. This dog is a mush,” she told The Dodo​. In a few days, Clarence will begin traveling from Georgia to New Jersey to find his forever home.

​​While he does so, his rescuers have no doubt that the friendly, easygoing dog will blend in and bring immense joy to any family he goes to. They also noted that anyone would be lucky to adopt him. “He would do great in a home with people who are around more than not, since he attaches quickly,” said Suzuki. “He’s fairly lazy, so a movie bud or snuggle partner is ideal.”

Clarence cannot wait to finally get a hug from his forever human in return. Unlike his owner, folks over at PetSmart Charities are supporting local organizations to make the lives pets better through adoption, improving access to veterinary care, and also disaster relief.
